Remembering Ms. Christine Dacera

Image
She died. Whatever opinions, assumptions and presumptions, we, the public, have on the matter, let us spare her family further hurt by maligning Ms. Christine Dacera. We all committed, committing or will commit mistakes at some points in our respective lives. The consequences can simply be brushed off and forgotten, some dismissed with humor or forgiveness or understanding, some to penalties or imprisonment, some to lost relationships or friendships, a limb injury or lost sanity or lifetime suffering. In Christine’s case, her life. We live in a conservative culture. However much we like to empower our women, there will always be that unspoken code of behavior expected from a girl, lady, woman, female. When the news bannered it as a rape and murder case, there was an uproar of condemnation. When the CCTV footage went out showing a sexy clad, tipsy and flirty Christine, celebrities doubled down and made apologies for joining the bandwagon of protestations. Christine died. ...

Next Likely Pope...His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle

Image
Newly-installed Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, right, receives the red three-cornered biretta hat as he is elevated to cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI during a consistory inside St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, Saturday. AP Talks are ripe that our own Cardinal Tagle is a strong contender to be the next Pope. A possibility that makes every Filipino looks forward to with pride and honor, but also with anxiety. For with this comes a responsibility to every Catholic and Christian followers to walk the talk. Cardinal Tagle talks about clearing the Roman Catholic Church with pedophiles thereby encouraging reports rather hiding it. A courageous move. If there is one thing more that Cardinal Tagle should look into is the politicized faith. The priests should focus more in building and nourishing the Christian faith in every Filipino. Religion is innate and spiritual. Governance and political activities is an outward manifestation of what is in the hearts of our l...

PACMAN BOMBED BY EL DINAMITA

Image
Manny Pacquiao got knocked out by what is now popularly called "the lucky punch" of Juan Manuel Marquez in their IV fight. If Pacquiao did not rush to topple JMM at once, the figh could have won in his favor. But pressured by boxing fanatics missing his "bangis sa boxing" Pacman gave in. And lost. It was a judgement call. Focus. Manny Pacquiao needs focus to regain his glorious days in boxing. Or better yet... it's time for him to hang the boxing gloves while he still at it... and let others shine. True grace and humility tells us to stop when we already needs to. Manny Pacquiao should focus now in public service, gain the accolades of many Filipinos needing help. It's payback time for all the blessings he has received.

Secretary Robredo, Should Have Lived

How long can you stay alive underwater, conscious or unconscious? Secretary Jess Robredo championed the empowerment of the people in Naga City. If the crash happened within the waters of Naga City, he could have been rescued and alive to this day. If this article   Timeline: Massive, deep-sea search/rescue/retrieval operations   is credible, it can be noted that there could had been "enough critical time" to rescue Secretary Robredo and his companions alive. If there been an in-placed mechanism in the coastal areas to report immediately sightings of this kind, the coastal resident who saw the crash could have triggered the life-saving rescue. Quick-thinking could have made him a hero... but more significantly, the nation and his family wouldn't have lost a good man. It's time for the government to lay-out procedures in handling this kind of scenarios. EXCERPTS: Between 4:20 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.—Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo called up his wife, Leni, by ...

Benigno "Noynoy" C. Aquino - The Bachelor President

Image
Just a passing thought in a warm sunny day... The Presidency had certainly added much appeal to the president-elect. It's quiet interesting how the ladies vie for the attention of President Aquino. However, let us take note that the one with the "current rights", the simple and beautiful Venezuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad carries herself admiringly - respectable and dignified. She fits the First Lady role to a T. Ms. Ai-ai de las Alas, in her usual funny self, jokingly answered that she simply wants the position of First Lady , if and when she will be offered a government post under President Aquino's administration. The current buzz is the 2008 Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza's unrestrained interest to meet President Aquino up close and personal - over a cup of coffee. The request is however ill-timed. Will the list becomes long? Or will it be cut short with wedding bells soon? November 2010 Update: Ms. Shalani Soledad and Presiden...
