Janella Lelis, protects the Philippine Flag

Much had been said about Janella Lelis, the girl from Albay who protected our Philippine Flag from Typhoon Juaning. While some points out that there is is nothing great in this as she did this per instruction from his elder brother, many find this patriotic still. Well, for one thing, she did the errand under an extraordinary circumstance - a raging storm, of which ordinarily, other children would have begged off. So I believe she deserves the credit.

It can be glimpsed from the photo that the child was holding on tightly to the pole, where the flag was attached, for balance as she made her way home.

It is but fitting then that she receive recognition from the National Historical Institute and a possible scholarship from PNoy.
